I will be bringing my money blog back over here for 2016 so be sure to check it our each week.
This is from an article I recently had published for the new year.
I hope it contributes to your life and business.

Another New Year’s Resolution or Your Goals Accomplished ?

Picture

It seems like every January 1st people make resolutions.
Perhaps you’ve even made a resolution-
To be healthier and lose weight,
To save more money and pay off your debt
To spend more time with your family instead of always being at work.

The only problem is by February 1st, life has gotten in your way.
You’ve been too busy at work to spend more time with the kids,
be healthier, or clean out the garage.

The reason why people don’t reach their goals
is that every day they make little decisions that move them further away instead of closer to their goals.

So how can you stay on track and make sure you are making decisions to accomplish your goals?

1- Write down your goals
If your goal is to be healthier write down that you want to be healthier and why. The why will help you remember how important the goal is and provide you with motivation. If your goal is to be healthier and your why is to be able see your child get married; This “why” will be helpful to read when you are struggling to make better food choices or having to exercise when you’re tired.

2- Prepare for Success
Goals get accomplished because there was preparation. If getting fit is a priority then the preparation should include having a bag of workout clothes ready to go the day before you plan to workout. Think about what you need to buy, have on hand or get together in order for you to be prepared to accomplish your goals.

3- Make a plan- write out the steps
Write out a plan for each goal and include the action steps with deadlines. Be sure it includes all the steps so you can be successful.
For example, if you want to read a book this year- the first step isn’t reading chapter 1. The first step is finding the book, the second step is getting the book and the third step is reading chapter 1.

4- Connect & Automate
Connect your new activity to something you already do so it becomes automatic.
For example, if your new activity is going for a walk and you drop off the kids every day at practice. You could connect the new activity of walking to follow right after you drop off the kids. Whatever the new behavior connect it to something you already do to make it automatic.

5- Review and track
Review your goals and plans each and every week and track daily when applicable.
For instance, if you are working on being healthier- track the number of times you worked out, ate healthy meals and how much water you drank.
Once a week, review your goals and reflect on how you are doing. Celebrate your successes and for your misses look at what you can do differently next week to make it happen.

For even more success create monthly and quarterly goals.
This way it gives you time to get back on track when life throws you a curve ball.
For instance, if you want to be healthier and you say you will exercise 5 times a week but it’s already Wednesday and you haven’t worked out yet, you may not make that goal and may get discouraged. Instead if you set your exercise goal for 20 times in a month, even if you get off track at the beginning of the month there is still time to be successful.

Whatever your goal- if you want it, you can make it happen.

Choiceless Victim or Empowered Co-Creator?

You are creating your life.
You create it every minute of every day with your thoughts, actions, behaviors, and choices.

So why not start creating a life you love?

What would it take for you to choose living?
Living to me (from my point of view) is when you consciously choose what you will be having each day.

You choose who you spend your time with, what you spend your time doing, how you decide to feel and how you spend your money.

But wait you might say...

I have bills to pay, a job to go to, and family members.
I have obligations, I have duties and responsibilities.

You do.

But what would it take for you to see that you made choices and continue to make new choices each day?

Not loving your life? Make different choices;

And whether you are transitioning from day job to dream livelihood or from couple to single know you are making a choice.

Move from a place of choiceless victim to
Empowered Co-Creator of Your Universe

How?
Start by consciously knowing you are making a choice. When you function from the energy of obligation (instead of choice) life can be, well, kind of sucky and a bit of drudgery.

Have a little talk with yourself and say,
"Yep, I could choose to skip my job today I really could. But instead, I choose to go to work and get paid."

The power of making a conscious choice is then yours. When you come from choice, it frees up a bunch of locked up, locked down energy in your body and in your life.

Action Step:
Notice where you feel like you have to do something and remind yourself only you decide.
Now take action knowing that you are deciding.

Even if it looks like the same action
You are now coming from a place of choice and that place of choice is the
energy of self-empowerment.

Would you be willing to love yourself enough to give yourself that space?

Spend more money and feel fabulous or take what I can get?

A friend recently asked me ,"Should I buy the beautiful dress from the trendy boutique that's out of my price range that I feel fabulous in OR should I buy the dress that is just ok (it's affordable but it's only so-so from a discount store)?

Since I help women shift their money situation I had to think about this carefully. I mean in the 80's of excesses and tons of credit card debt I would have told my friend to go for the fabulous because that's what I would have done. Being older and wiser I realize it's not about the money.

It's about self love. My old views of self love (really self abuse) were to spend now and figure it out later. Now as I have learned to have a loving relationship with myself and my money; the answer will require a few more questions.

Will the dress bring you more ease and fun in your life? Will it contribute to you and facilitate you into a glowing goddess ready to draw even more ideal clients to you? If so, then definitely.

But if the dress puts more stress within you and will now create more struggle and worry in your life; Giving you more questions like how will I make rent? How will I pay my electric this month?
Will I have to borrow money to get my basics taken care of?  Then no, buying the dress is not really loving you.

Your life and your decisions are all choices. They are not wrong or right, just some choices bring more ease than others.

Whether your money dilemma is about a business decision, a house purchase, or a dress; Remember it's never really about the money. Money is just one of those things we like to make a problem.

After all if you didn't have a money problem you'd probably create a love crisis or a health issue. People love their problems it keeps them focused on what they don't want or have.
This focus creates more problems and above all it gives people something to do besides creating a life from joy and fun.

Imagine what you could do with all that free time if you choose to be without problems?

Money relationships can be confusing. Email me your questions about money or any of your life challenges and if chosen you'll get to see you answer here. kim@moneyevolutions.com
